Dr Josephine Collins

Overview

Dr Jo Collins graduated from the University of Newcastle and undertook her internship and residency at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals. She was admitted to physicians training at Royal North Shore Hospital, where she also undertook advanced gastroenterology training, and then a further year of advanced endoscopy training at Bankstown Hospital.

Jo then completed a two-year fellowship in advanced endoscopy at Addenbrooke’s hospital (Cambridge University Hospital) in Cambridge, UK. This involved further training in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic luminal stent placement and small bowel capsule endoscopy. Whilst on her fellowship she also completed a Diploma in UK medical practice (LSTM). She is an accredited diagnosed and therapeutic endoscopist with the Conjoint Committee in gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS and small bowel capsule endoscopy.

Jo is committed to patient-centred care and has interests in therapeutic endoscopy and inflammatory bowel disease. She has an interest in teaching, and has been actively involved in the education and training of medical students, junior doctors and gastroenterology trainees. She is a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and is an honorary Clinical Lecturer at Macquarie University.
